Why Consistency Beats Intensity 💪
Start, Stop, and Continue with Ben Cashion
Greetings YoPro community! My name is Ben Cashion, and I’m thrilled to be with you today. I’m a committed believer in Jesus Christ who has lived in Northwest Arkansas for 20 years, married, raising three kids in grade school.
For work, I coach CEOs and family offices and work as a strategist. And when I can, I fish. Here in Arkansas, or anywhere the water calls.
My career doesn’t make sense on paper, and I wouldn’t recommend it as a model. It’s the kind of path you stumble into, not one you plan.
I started in consumer packaged goods. Then, out of nowhere, I spent seven years as a licensed counselor. After that, I went back into CPG for almost six more. Business. Counseling. Then business again. (Insert an unnecessarily winding road here!)
Along the way, there were five startups and two rapid-scale organizations. A trail of broken things, bad decisions, and lessons that came harder than I wanted.
But I see it now.
God was stitching something together. Every step, every stumble, every detour—it was leading me here. Coaching. Helping leaders find clarity.
And I’m thankful.
For today, let’s talk about setting and working on goals. I’ll be honest. I used to hate them. And I was terrible at them in my younger years. Only in my forties have I found traction.
Here’s what I’ve learned.

➞ Start
Find a small group of people you trust—four or five at most.
Meet quarterly. Ninety minutes is all it takes to share, track, and pray through your goals together.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Don’t overbake the process. If you want real progress, you must have a consistent community and keep it simple.

➞ Stop
Stop letting your failures write your story. I failed at goals for years.
Lost weight, gained it back ten times. Carried credit card debt through the wandering years of my career.
But I kept trying.
Eventually, I lost 50 pounds and kept it off. We crawled out of debt, then found stability, then real wealth.
God’s mercy didn’t fail me, even when my plans did.

➞ Continue
Keep your goals small and attainable. Progress on a small goal beats failure on a big goal six days a week and twice on Sunday.
Don’t despise small beginnings. Because the truth is, consistency beats intensity. Small progress over time is the path to transformation.
God designed the Christian walk the same way—daily bread, daily cross, daily grace.
